The Surf Coast Arts Trail is a free, self-guided arts event that invites visitors to explore studios, galleries and creative spaces across the Surf Coast Shire.

The 2026 Surf Coast Arts Trail will take place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August, from 10am to 4pm each day.

The Surf Coast Arts Trail is free to attend. However, some activities, such as workshops, artist-led experiences and special exhibitions, may incur a fee. Please refer to individual listings for details, including any booking requirements and costs.

No bookings are required to visit most venues. Simply choose the studios, galleries and creative spaces you would like to explore and enjoy the Trail at your own pace.

Some workshops, artist-led experiences or special events may require bookings. Any booking requirements will be listed on the relevant artist or venue profile.

All participating artists, venues and studio locations can be found on the Arts Trail website. Browse artist profiles, discover venues and start planning your Trail experience before the weekend.

Printed Arts Trail brochures are available from Surf Coast Shire Visitor Information Centres, as well as Visitor Information Centres across Geelong and the Bellarine, from July 1, subject to availability.

During the Arts Trail weekend, brochures will also be available at participating studios, galleries and venues, subject to availability.

With more than 60 venues participating, we recommend choosing a region or area to explore each day. Use the online map to discover venues, build your itinerary and plan a route that suits your interests and available time.

Yes. The Arts Trail offers a unique opportunity to meet artists in their creative spaces. Many artists will be demonstrating techniques, discussing their work and sharing insights into their creative practice.

Yes. Many artists will have artwork available for purchase, ranging from original works and limited-edition pieces to handmade items and gifts. Purchasing directly from artists is a great way to support local creatives.

The Arts Trail showcases a diverse range of creative practices, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking, jewellery, textiles, glass, woodwork and mixed media. Each venue offers a unique experience, with many featuring multiple artists.

Accessibility information is provided for each venue on the Arts Trail website to help visitors plan their experience. As venues range from purpose-built galleries to private studios and community spaces, accessibility features vary between locations.

If you have specific access requirements, please contact the Surf Coast Shire’s Arts Development Team before the event and we will be happy to assist.

Yes. The Arts Trail is a family-friendly event and a wonderful opportunity for children and young people to experience art and creativity firsthand. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

With more than 60 venues participating, it is unlikely visitors will be able to see everything in a single day. We recommend selecting a region or creating a personalised itinerary to make the most of your Arts Trail experience.

We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, weather-appropriate clothing and your phone and a printed map. If you are planning to purchase artwork, a reusable shopping bag may also come in handy.

Arts Trail After Hours is a curated listing of performances, live music, exhibitions and creative experiences taking place on the Saturday evening of the Trail weekend. It is a great way to continue your Arts Trail experience after studios close for the day.

The full Arts Trail After Hours program will be available via Surf Coast Events and promoted through Arts Trail communications in the lead up to the event.

Dogs are welcome at some venues but not all, particularly indoor galleries, private studios and venues serving food. Please check venue information before your visit and ensure dogs remain under effective control at all times.
