Peta Uthmeyer’s Studio

I am a colourist, I love playing with bright contrasting to make my paintings pop and bring joy and fun into the finished paintings. My hope is to always be able to free up and lean more into the abstract while having the figurative element as well.

The subject matter comes from a seed of an idea then evolves in it's own way, I work best with no planned outcome, it's very organic. Although I love painting the face I try to treat it as an abstraction and not getting caught up in the reality of what we expect the face to be.

I have called my exhibition "True Colours" as I love strong bright colours that reflects who I am and true to me.

I try to keep my art uncomplicated and light hearted bringing some pleasure to the viewer and myself.
