The Light box Torquay is a studio collective and maker space that hosts workshops, classes, and art events. The following artists will be exhibiting at the Lightbox Torquay for the 10th Annual Surf Coast Arts Trail.
Martine Oderio plays with clay and seaweed and any art materials that look fun. She has loves exploring form, function, and technique. Living in a coastal town filled with nature and friendly people, her art is a reflection of the fun, casual vibes you can fill yourself with around here.
Joanna McOwen is an Australian landscape artist who paints contemporary artwork for beautiful homes all over the world. She is inspired by the wild nature of the roaring Southern Ocean, rugged ranges, sweeping grasses, and acid-yellow canola fields from her home in Torquay, and beyond into southwest Victoria. Joanna interprets light and tone through her exquisite use of soft pinks, vanillas, and lilacs against the hues of olives and indigo to create modern, abstract, coastal-inspired pieces with a painterly and expressive style, working in both acrylic and oil.
Originally from Hampshire in the UK, Joanna comes from a nature-loving creative family of musicians, painters, and ceramicists. Growing up in both the UK and outback South Australia, her earliest memories were of red dirt and dazzling blue skies, instilling a connection to Australian lands that would last a lifetime. Studying a BA (Hons) in Textile Design at Leeds University (UK) she was destined for life as a fabric buyer, with wanderlust leading her to work and travel all over the world. Emigrating back to Australia in 2004, Joanna found home in southwest Victoria in 2019 with her young family.
Caz Rieniets is a practicing artist, art therapist and clay-field therapist. She uses clay to guide clients to connect with their inner senses and express what cannot be said in words. She works with kids, teens and women. Caz also explores the world of ceramics and acrylic painting to express her love of the beautiful Surf Coast.
Amanda Glasson is an acrylic and watercolor artist residing in Torquay. Glasson and her husband have been living in the Surf Coast for just over 2 years. Glasson is heavily influenced by the stunning environment around her in her paintings and attempts to capture the beauty and movement in nature. Glasson is looking forward to her solo exhibition in July.
Nena Eastmure an emerging artist that uses mediums such as oil paints and charcoal to create art strongly inspired by the romanticism and baroque art movements. Nena also creates stippling drawings using the art form of pointillism, producing detailed black and white portraits.”
