Peter Day’s affinity with land and sea country is the inspiration for over three decades of sculpture making and artwork. His early tertiary training at Burnley VCAH and background in Landscape Design, Construction and Ecology continues to inspire and inform his sculpture and art works.
Recent sculpture projects have included Department of Environment ‘Life of the Yarra’ installation in Federation Square Melbourne, Melbourne Water ‘Werribee River Project’, ‘Wonder of Whales’ event at Cape Otway Lighthouse with Sea Shepherd Australia, Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2012/14/16/22, as well as numerous Australia wide festivals, exhibits, private and public commissions. Peter’s 2017/18 ‘Brolga Pathways’ art project conducted with South-West Victorian schools received the Victorian Premiers Award.
Recent works for Galleries feature small vignettes of our coast painted using ochres and clay. Peter makes the earth paints from local pigments giving them a unique feel intrinsic to this coastline.
