Gabrielle May

Torquay-based artist Gabrielle May creates vibrant abstract compositions, expressive figurative works, and bold typographic art. Ocean living infuses serene abstracts while urban energy from Melbourne inspires grittier neoexpressionist work. Music fuels her creative process. Recently featured in GT Magazine and commissioned for a large-scale installation on a Melbourne CBD residential development, her work is held in collections across
Australia. She loves seeing creativity shine in the art classes she teaches locally and looks forward to chatting all things art with visitors who stop by her studio during the Arts Trail.

Collective Canvas: A Community Art Creation

Join me in creating a collaborative artwork throughout the Arts Trail weekend! A large canvas will sit in my studio, inviting every visitor to leave their mark and become part of something bigger.
Using pastels, crayons, and paints, add whatever speaks to you - a flower, a message, a splash of colour, or a simple mark. There's no right or wrong, just the joy of creating together. Watch the piece evolve throughout the weekend as each visitor adds their unique contribution to our collective artwork.
This is a drop-in, no-pressure creative experience - spend as little or as much time as you'd like. Whether you consider yourself an artist or haven't picked up a paintbrush in years, you're welcome to contribute. By the end of the weekend, we'll have created a one-of-a-kind community artwork that captures the spirit of the Surf Coast Arts Trail.

When: Saturday and Sunday - 11am-4pm
